Position-First vs Player-First Charts
This chart is position-first: each row is a position, and you write a player's name in each inning column. The lineup template is player-first: each row is a player, and you write positions. Position-first is better for building the rotation, because holes are visible as empty cells: if the catcher row has a blank in inning 4, you can see it from three feet away. Player-first is better for fairness math. Serious planners use both, and the Excel version bridges them with its per-player innings counter.
One rule the sheet reminds you of: in Little League, minimum play means six CONSECUTIVE defensive outs per player. Two scattered bench innings can still leave a player short, so write bench innings back-to-back-aware.
