Printable Softball Lineup Card (DP/FLEX Ready)

The DP (designated player) bats for the FLEX. The FLEX plays defense only and does not bat unless she formally enters the batting order, at which point she bats in the 10th slot her team listed at the plate meeting. That's why the card carries both rows even though only one bats: umpires expect to see the FLEX listed at the bottom of the order, and a card that omits her creates a lineup-change argument in the third inning.

Two practical rules save most DP/FLEX headaches. First, decide before the game whether you're using the rule at all; if not, cross out both rows and play nine. Second, track re-entries: the DP and FLEX can each re-enter once, and the plays where teams get burned are almost always second re-entries nobody wrote down.
