Perfect Game Age Chart (2026)
Perfect Game determines youth age groups by a player's age on April 30 of the season year, the same May 1 cutoff as USSSA. The difference arrives at high school ages: from 14U up, PG divisions also carry a graduation-year standard, and a player qualifies by EITHER the birthdate or the grad year. That "either" is what makes PG age groups feel confusing, and it's actually the part that helps reclassified players.

Perfect Game Birthdate Chart (2026 Season)
Age on April 30, 2026 sets the group:
| Age group | Born on or after | Grad year standard (where used) |
|---|---|---|
| 9U | May 1, 2016 | n/a |
| 10U | May 1, 2015 | n/a |
| 11U | May 1, 2014 | n/a |
| 12U | May 1, 2013 | n/a |
| 13U | May 1, 2012 | n/a |
| 14U | May 1, 2011 | Class of 2030 or later |
| 15U | May 1, 2010 | Class of 2029 or later |
| 16U | May 1, 2009 | Class of 2028 or later |
| 17U | May 1, 2008 | Class of 2027 or later |
| 18U | May 1, 2007 | Class of 2026 or later |
At the dual-standard ages, a player is eligible if they satisfy either column. A 2028 grad born in March 2009 misses the 16U birthdate window by two months but qualifies on grad year. Always confirm against the event's posted eligibility page, because individual PG events (WWBA vs BCS-style) can state their standard differently, and other circuits (Five Tool, for example) draw their grad-year lines one year differently from PG.
Why Grad Year Takes Over at High School Ages
College recruiting runs on graduation years, not birthdays, so the showcase side of PG organizes teams the way college coaches scout them. The practical consequences: a reclassified player (repeating a grade for athletic or academic reasons) can move age groups without a birthday changing, and two players born the same week can be in different divisions if one reclassified. When a tournament roster gets protested at these ages, it's almost always a grad-year dispute, not a birthdate one; carry documentation for both.
PG vs the Other Charts
At 13U and below, PG and USSSA age groups match exactly, so a spring travel roster is usually legal in both. The clash is with Little League, whose August 31 cutoff puts summer birthdays one group apart from their travel division. And note that PG's pitching rules travel with age group: PG events post Pitch Smart-based limits per division, covered in the pitch count comparison.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Perfect Game age cutoff?
April 30 of the season year for youth divisions. From 14U up, a graduation-year standard applies alongside the birthdate, and a player qualifies by meeting either one.
What does 16U mean in Perfect Game?
Born on or after May 1, 2009, or graduating high school in 2028 or later, for the 2026 season. Either standard qualifies.
Can a reclassified player move down an age group?
Their grad-year eligibility follows the new graduation year, so a reclass can qualify for a division his birthdate alone wouldn't allow at the grad-year ages. Check the specific event's eligibility rules; documentation may be required.
Is the PG cutoff the same as USSSA's?
Yes, at youth ages: both use age on April 30. They diverge at 14U+ where PG adds the grad-year standard.
One roster, every ruleset: birthdates, age groups, and pitch limits tracked together.
