FAQ
How Does Tournament Planning Work in Rizzler?
Rizzler's tournament planning tool maps your entire tournament weekend before the first pitch. Add your games to the schedule, assign your pitching staff, and Rizzler calculates pitcher availability across every game based on pitch count limits and rest day rules. After each game, update pitch counts and the plan recalculates automatically.
The Step-by-Step Process
- Add tournament games to your schedule. Enter all 3-7 games with dates and times. Group them as a tournament.
- Assign your pitching roster. Select which players are available to pitch and rank them by preference.
- Set pitch count targets. Rizzler suggests targets based on your league's rules. You can adjust them per pitcher.
- Review the availability grid. Rizzler shows a game-by-game grid: who can pitch in each game, how many pitches they have remaining, and when rest days expire.
- Play the games. After each game, Rizzler updates the grid based on actual pitch counts from in-game scoring or manual entry.
- Adjust in real time. If a pitcher throws more or fewer pitches than planned, the rest of the tournament plan recalculates instantly.
What the Tool Shows You
The tournament planning view gives you a pitcher availability grid that updates after every game:
| Pitcher | Game 1 (Sat AM) | Game 2 (Sat PM) | Game 3 (Sun) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tyler | ✅ Starting (45 pitches planned) | ❌ Rest | ✅ Available (1 rest day cleared) |
| Sarah | ✅ Relief (20 pitches) | ✅ Available | ✅ Available |
| Jake | ❌ Saved | ❌ Saved | ✅ Starting (full rest) |
| Emma | ✅ Starting Game 2 | N/A | ❌ Rest |
What Plans Include Tournament Planning?
Tournament planning requires the Pro plan or higher. The Free plan includes single-game planning but not multi-game tournament tools.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use tournament planning for a week-long tournament?
Yes. Rizzler supports tournaments of any length: 2-day weekends, 3-day events, and week-long tournaments like Cooperstown. The availability grid scales to however many games you add.
Does it work with different league rules?
Yes. Rizzler supports Little League pitch count rules by default and lets you set custom rules for USSSA, Perfect Game, or any other league. See the pitch count comparison.
What if the tournament schedule changes?
Update the game's time in Rizzler once, and the pitcher availability grid recalculates from there. That covers rain delays, schedule shifts, and added games.
Can I plan lineups for each game too?
Yes. Each tournament game links to a full game plan: batting order, fielding rotation, and pitching assignments. The AI batting order adjusts based on who's available per game.
Plan your whole tournament before the first pitch, then let the grid do the math.
